>Lucky Laura!

29 May

>A few weeks ago i was lucky enough to be treated to a five star holiday by my lovely boyfriend. I had such an amazing time, i just had to share it with you!! Destination Taba in Egypt.

This was the pool by day……

And the pool by night……….

And if they didn’t take our fancy, there was always the salt water lake….

We spent hours snorkelling around the coral reef, getting up close and personal with the tropical fish….

We also took a boat trip out to Fallon Island for some Skuba diving, which was an amazing experience.

Later in the week we visited Petra in Jordan, a city carved out of the rocks and lost to the world for a 1000 years! And for all you Indiana Jones fans, here’s the treasury where they filmed some of ‘Indiana Jones -the last Crucade’

>Fast Car Photo Shoot!

29 May

>Last Friday myself and a few fellow ‘babes (Sammi, Jemma, Laura and one of our Newbie’s Gemma) who are all from different departments, were lucky enough to be asked to represent the Fluxbabes and take part in a photo shoot for Fast Car magazine!

Not really knowing what to expect, I arrived at work with an arm full of clothes and and a car boot jam packed with shoes! and between the five of us we managed to pull together some sexy office attire!

With the help of Holly our make-up artist, Scary and Trev from Fast Car and of course Dan the photographer – it made for a really great day! and we can’t wait to see the final results! I did however manage to get hold of a few of the shots so here’s a little sneak preview…

So make sure you keep your eyes peeled for the next few months editions of Fast Car!

Behind the scenes videos and pics will follow shortly…

>Beautiful Football-ers…

29 May

>

In reply to Jem’s previous post – Ryan Giggs!?? of all the footballers out there she opted for the hairy welsh guy? Hmmm. Admittedly in my younger years I probably had soft spot for Ian Wright! But seriously – Giggs??

He may have left the gunners now – but have you not seen this guy!…

’nuff said!!!

Giggs may have won a trophy or two this year…but when it comes to beautiful football…well we all know which team would be most worthy of that praise!…

>The football giveaway

28 May

>

After seeing the Mars adverts on TV saying they’re giving away 1000’s of footballs, as England aren’t in the Euro this summer, I have developed a slight Mars bar addiction. Not that I’m into football in any way – I just want to win a ball.

I say I’m not into football, I’m more a player fan than a team fan….Ryan Giggs, the lovely welsh one, captured my heart and has been the only player for me (aside from LOG, obviously) since I was around 15 (although again, aside from LOG) If you made me chose a team it would without a doubt have to be Manchester United, mainly down to the fact I went Old Trafford on a school trip and got Peter Schmeichel’s autograph and saw Eric Cantona, plus – they have Giggs. Happy sigh…

Despite my not being into football, I do happen to have an understanding of the offside rule. Kind of.

It is a shame that the England team, well any of the UK teams, didn’t manage to qualify, although the pubs will be slightly nicer this summer, with fewer masses of drunk men shouting and screaming at the TV’s….

Anyway, back to my efforts at winning one of these damn balls…although with the amount of mars bars I’ve eaten and the fact that I all I’ve done is ‘hit the crossbar’ I’m not actually convinced there’s any of these mars footballs in actual existence….

>Another Euro disappointment…

27 May

>Well, what a disappointing night that was! Even the hostess’s dress changes weren’t up to the normal standard, although that said, the quality and entertainment value of some of the entrants was perfect. Amongst the flashing lights, comic entries, and over enthusiastic dancing, there was the odd entry that actually sounded like a proper song!

Deciding to play the Eurovison Drinking Game made it rather less cringe worthy! Each time Terry Wogan made a quip, a singer winked at the camera or dropped to their knees, fireworks were used in a performance or there was a costume change we drank! Needless to say, towards the end we were rather drunk…

The voting was definitely the most fascinating part of the show, with not many surprises as to who gave the 12 points to who (mainly each countries neighbouring country/s!)

I wonder, with all the ‘interesting’ voting going on – do the powers that be in each of the countries involved actually take any notice of this when making important decisions and policies….??

“Hmmm, we can’t decided what to do about this with XX country – I know lets see what points they gave us in Eurovision and then make a decision from there…” Personally I just can’t see that happening, and if it does, it’s really rather worrying!!!

Well, at least we weren’t bottom alone. I had had high hopes for Andy too, he was an entrant that could actually sing…

Personally I was rooting for France….or the ‘pirates of the sea’ from Latvia, or Norway as I liked her dress.

>A Girls Guide to Road Tripping

27 May

>As my other half, LOG, lives miles and miles away (around 106 to be precise!) I tend to road-trip a fair bit. So it got me thinking about a ‘survival guide’ for the road-tripping girl – whether it’s to see your long distance lover, family and friends, gigs or just for days out. A girl needs to be prepared for everything.

First things first – make sure your car is reliable and can cope with a bit of distance. It always helps to have it given the once over by someone who knows what they’re looking at, to check tyre pressures, oil levels and that kind of thing. Generally in my experience these people are men. Dad’s, brother’s or boyfriend’s are perfectly acceptable to use. Luckily, my brother is a Ford technician, so he generally looks after Freddie (my Focus) for me. I can manage to fill the washer bottles, and refuel, but that’s about my limit, I’m afraid.

I know that it sounds totally sexist and I’m letting the side down, but I really can’t help it! I know how you change a car wheel – however I’m not physically strong enough to actually do it. I can’t undo the nuts holding the wheel on. I’ve tried. It actually made my brother laugh so much that he cried, while he was watching me attempt it.

(Me and Freddie)

Having some form of breakdown cover is also essential. Flux’s Rescue policy covers you in the UK and Europe and can be added to run alongside your insurance policy with us for £45. The last thing you want is to be stranded at the side of the road miles away from home – or miles away from anywhere for that matter. If you’re sharing the driving with a friend, make sure that you get them added to your insurance as a Temporary Additional Driver – just incase you have a bump and end up having your insurance company refusing to pay out, as your friend wasn’t insured to drive. One quick way to fall out with your friend and get lumped with a large repair bill to pay.

Once the car is taken car of, comes the more interesting stuff. Music. If you’re not a fan of the radio like me (the dj’s talk way too much for my liking) making sure a good selection of your favourite CD’s are in the car is very important. The motorway can seem even longer if you’ve only got the one cd to listen to over and over. Or if you can connect your ipod, even better!

Sunglasses are obviously essential, the last thing you want to be doing is squinting in the sun all the way to your destination – believe me, it’s just not fun. Not only did it give me a headache, but also it made my face hurt! Drinks and snacks are always a good idea – you never know when traffic (and hunger) will strike. Perfume and make-up is never a bad idea – it’s always nice to freshen up before arriving – especially if you’re seeing your man who you haven’t seen in a week or so!

Having a Sat-Nav (although not like Brian, my sat nav. He’s dangerous – don’t follow him anywhere) is also very handy if you’re going somewhere new, or incase of diversions. A map is always a useful thing to have somewhere in the car too. Driving around aimlessly with no idea where you are can’t be fun and could end-up like something out of a horror film…. Especially if you happen to come across a spooky Little Chef on the A1….seriously creepy looking place…..

Happy and safe road-tripping girls!!

>Bikesure Babes climb Everest!!

20 May

>

Whilst wondering round the BMF we managed to blag ourselves a free go on a big inflatable slide called Everest. It’s amazing how many freebies we get when we’re dressed in lycra!

Unfortunately I managed to injure myself, and now have a massive carpet-like burn on my bum cheek! How do i explain that one to my fella??!!

Check out the video…….

>Bikesure Babes at the BMF

20 May

>On the 17th +18th May, myself and fellow Fluxbabe Chelle, (with our very own bodyguards Grant and Jon) attended the BMF Peterborough.

Armed with full length Bikesure babe lycra, we were ready for action!

I must say it was the coldest, windiest, muddiest show we’ve done to date, but we still managed a smile for the photos. And after nearly losing our tent to a big gust of wind, we took turns in holding it down! this is Grant multi-tasking!

And Chelle hanging on for dear life!

The show was much bigger than expected, and despite the bad weather conditions the crowds still poured in. Probably due to the fact that The BMF offered something for everyone,
from sports bikes…..

to Classics…

And customs…..

Not forgetting the Trikes….

And Gorillas riding quads!!!!

However no bike show is complete without the Michelin man!

Chelle discovered a way to attract more people to our stand….

However my hat didn’t have quite the same effect somehow!!

>Fluxbabes behind the scenes

16 May

>

As you’ve already seen from the blog we have some new fluxbabes (and might I add, all my staff – hurrah) and over the last few days they’ve all been having their individual shots done.

I am no longer an active fluxbabe, and instead turn my hand to helping out behind the scenes and providing assistance for our marketing team. A bit of nepotism there, as it’s run by my sister! Our fluxbabe Charlie works for the marketing department full time so she’s often found behind the camera rather than infront of it. So today off we toddled to do one of the new girls pictures and we thought it necessary to test the lighting first.

Above: Charlie and I in a very non flux babe pose

Above: Now this IS a pose, for the next calendar perhaps?

You can look forward to seeing some genuine shots shortly when we get the new babes pics on here. It wont be long!

>Stoneleigh Kit Car Show

13 May

>

Adrian Flux have been insuring Kit Cars for years and a couple of weeks ago we sponsored the WSCC (Westfield Sports Car Club) at the Kit Car show in Stoneleigh (the biggest kit car show on the planet!) and, with a little bit of persuasion from the ‘better’ half, I decided it might just be worth a visit…

Not being too clued up on the whole Kit Car scene – I was surprised to see such a range of vehicles there, from this:

to this…

and I fell in love with a few of them too!…

and especially with this little beast!… : )

All in all – we had a really good day, I’d almost go as far as to say that I’ve been converted into a kit car enthusiast!… Almost. But I can definitely see myself whizzing around the coast in a little Kit Car on these hot summer weekends…I’m yet to be convinced on the whole fake ferrari aspect of it though, but hey – each to their own! and Ferrari or not they would still leave me and my little clio eating dust!
