alt='Jem' title='Jem' align=right width=60 hspace=10 vspace=10'/>Blood Donating

Now we all know how important it is for hospitals to have blood available to them for using when saving lives, but how many of us actually donate blood? Not many. Out of everyone who would be eligible to donate blood around only 5% actually do! Only 5%! Blood is needed for so many different things, from general surgery to helping premature babies survive.

The top 10 uses of blood (from the NBS website)

23% is used in general surgery
15% is used in General Medical
13% goes to heart and chest surgery
11% is used for anything to do with bones and bone disease
9% is used given to those with blood diseases
8% is used in accident and emergency
Joint 7th place – 6% for anything to do with kidneys, and 6% for newborns and children
4% for intensive care
3.5% is used during pregnancy and childbirth

It’s such a worthwhile thing to do, by just donating once you could help save and make a difference to so many lives.

As I’m championing this cause, I’m obviously a ‘donator’, and I went last night again. For those of you who are scared of needles or worry that it’s hurts – there’s really no need. I’m a total chicken and I can do it! The first time I went I actually held the bag of my blood afterwards. Which thinking about it now, is pretty weird and quite surreal.

On a serious note though, it really doesn’t hurt and the nurses are great and they’ll do everything they can to put you at ease and make sure you’re comfortable. It doesn’t take long at all, on average it only takes 10-15 minutes to actually donate and you get squash and choccy biscuits afterwards so it can’t be bad! If you do happen to feel faint afterwards, the nurses are very attentive and won’t let you leave until they sure that you’re ok.

After having a relative who needed repeated blood transfusions, I know the difference it can make, and I’m eternally grateful to those who donate blood. They helped someone I care about deeply, so I want to do the same.

So go on, why not give it a go? You’ll feel so good about yourself afterwards knowing that you’ve helped make a difference.

Do something really amazing. Give blood.

Well this will be the last blog i will be leaving you all, sadly I am leaving the company for a change of career. I just couldn't leave without saying good bye !
I must say i really have enjoyed my time as a flux babe, i have gathered some great memories that i will treasure forever.
.... My first assignment as a flux babe, i was given the opportunity to be in a photo shoot, We did a "Day in the life of a flux babe" featuring in Fast Car Magazine.
... i was scared witless, but all the others girls and the staff working for the magazine soon calmed my nerves, .. i think the glass of wine also played its part!
we had such a laugh shooting.. beats a normal day in the office!

Ive also done two shows, French Nationals and vw van fest... both very different shows. It was so lovely to meet some of our clients face to face. I had such a lovely time at each show, and it was always nice pleasing some people with free goodie bags and some really good deals on their insurance.

This years Bikesure calender was another day that will stay with me.
We got the whole shoot down in one day, we met all the bike owners- even got to know a bit of some of the bikes history, it was nice to learn more about bikes for once- i must admit its not a topic i know much about!
... I also did a calender shoot for Max power! This was a really interesting day as we had the chance to work along side "real" models, the girls that do it for their day jobs!

Another great experience i have had as a flux babe was when we all went to our local RAF camp in Marham. Adrian flux sponsored a track day on the air field. It was a really successful day, and i loved having the chance to do a couple of laps of the track in a vw golf- you cant beat a bit of speed. Don't worry i wasn't driving!

These are just some of my fondest memories as a flux babe, ive had a truly awesome time, and would like to thank my marketing team and other members of the company that have given me these experiences, and of course i would like to thank you guys for voting me a flux babe!
I really am honored to have been given the chance to represent Adrian flux over the past year.

Last Friday LOG, myself and a few friends ventured over to the Cambridge Corn Exchange to see the Shockwaves nme tour featuring Glasvegas, Friendly Fires, White Lies and Florence and the Machine.

Myself and LOG were running late (well it is a womans right to change her outfit at the last minute!) and so we missed the first 2 bands, but the others said they were good!

We arrived just as Friendly Fires took the stage. They were brilliant, they sounded amazing and really got the crowd going. I'd definietly recommend seeing them if you get the chance.
After Friendly Fires was Glasvegas. Their album just doesn't do their live show justice. The album is good but the live show is amazing.

They were totally different to Friendly Fires, and although Glasvegas were excellent after going from the lively and upbeat Friendly Fires to the intense Glasvegas, we left feeling rather melancholy. Saying that though we had a great night.

(I did take my camera but we were too far away to get any pictures!)

alt='Jem' title='Jem' align=right width=60 hspace=10 vspace=10'/>Adverts

Ok, so we all know that adverts bend the truth and can be either rubbish, annoying or funny and totally random.
For example a pet hate of mine are the mascara adverts. If you look and the bottom of the screen in each one it always says that whichever celeb is also wearing last inserts (basically fake eyelashes for those who don’t know) and that they have been enhanced post production! So what do they look like on your average woman then? I’m assuming that most women don’t wear fake eyelashes on a daily basis, and there’s no way that we can be ‘enhanced post production’ in real life! I’d like to see what the mascara really does and how it will really look before I buy it, not an image of how it won’t look when I use it!

I do have to say that insurance adverts are a bit rubbish too - naming no names, but the slogans would be a total giveaway so I won't put them.

I will admit though that at the moment I’m loving the Churchill ad’s (does that make me a Flux traitor?) especially the ad with Roy Walker ‘it’s good but it’s not right, I ordered a Korma’. It makes me laugh whenever I see it, although I am starting to worry that Roy has lost his marbles a bit judging by the laughing…
