Kings of Leon

Last week LOG and myself went to the O2 to see Kings of Leon.

Oh. My. God. Amazing just doesn’t cover it. Awe inspiring might though.
I was warned that the Upper tier at the O2 was high, but nothing prepared me for just how high – or steep! I was terrified and daren’t move out of my seat the whole time. There we’re people around us dancing and jumping around without a care for their personal safety and there I was clinging to my seat for all I was worth!!

But anyway, back to the beautiful KOL. And beautiful they are too. Although I forgot my glasses and couldn’t really see anything until they put the screens on!

They opened with Closer and Crawl then headed back to Youth & Young Manhood, Aha Shake Heartbreak and Because of the Times for a selection of their greatest tracks. They covered Taper Jean Girl, Milk, Mollys Chamber, Call Me and my personal favourite Four Kicks, to name a few! Cold Desert was also a real high for me, I just love that song.
Four Kicks had to be the absolute highlight for me. I could barely speak. I’d been sat there with my fingers crossed hoping they’d play it.

Sex on Fire was awesome after the first few words they didn’t really bother to sing as we were doing it for them! Everyone was going crazy! It must be an incredible feeling to have your song sung back to you by thousands of people. If you only ever see one live act it has to be them. Without a shadow of a doubt (Although I’ve heard that Muse are face meltingly good).

A visit with the Queen...kind of

On Monday LOG and I went over to Windsor for a wander around and to enjoy the sun.

It was lovely and hot so obviously the first stop was for an ice cream and a walk along the river. I have never seen so many swans all in one place, they were literally following people up and down hoping for food!

We headed into the town and as usual I dragged LOG around most of the shoe shops!

We rounded a corner and discovered a huge crowd, as we had no idea what the crowd was for being ‘tourists’ for the day we joined in the standing around! It turns out the crowd was for the return of The Queen to Windsor Castle after her birthday celebrations at Buckingham Palace.

We also took a walk through Eton and discovered a shop that went to the extreme of loving pink…so just for all you pink lovers out there here you go...

Star Trekking...

I’m not really a massive Star Trek fan, however, with all the hype that was surrounding the new film, and the rave reviews about it I couldn’t resist going to see it on the big screen. And I mean big screen! We booked tickets to the Imax in London with the biggest screen in the UK.

After the weeks of waiting (we had to delay our trip by a couple of weeks due to the fact that we couldn’t book 4 seats next to each other until the film had been out a while!) the day finally dawned, beautifully sunny and warm…and we had tickets to sit indoors in the dark for a couple of hours! Great timing!

I’d never been to an Imax before so had no idea what to expect. I almost felt like I was queuing for a ride at a theme park I was that excited! I still can’t quite grasp how big the screen was! It was massive!

Before the film started a man stood at the side under a spotlight and advised us there would be a lightshow, some trailers and then the film. An announcer for a film! Brilliant!

The film is brilliant and I’d really recommend seeing it. It got a bit confusing at one point with all the time travel and several Spocks, but that aside I loved it! The best thing about it is that you don’t have to be a Star Trek geek to understand whats going on and to enjoy it. There’s some laughs, some emotional bits and plenty of action! Simon Pegg is excellent as Scotty, not to mention the giggles at Checkov trying to pronounce his ‘V’s’!
Luckily when we came out the sun was still shining so we walked along the river and enjoyed a beer while watching the several police helicopters that appeared to just be chasing each other around the sky. Random.

Star Trek is definitely worth a watch. The Imax is an awesome cinema experience too….I’m so seeing Harry Potter there!

Ladies Driving Challenge!!

On Sunday the 12th July i'm taking part in a Ladies Driving Challenge where i will have the chance to drive 3 of the following vehicles;

a fire engine, tank, 70 seater coach, military truck, armoured personnell carrier, combine harvester, arctic truck and many more!

This event is to raise money for Help the heroes www.helpforheroes.org.uk and The Firefighters charity, www.firefighterscharity.org.uk

Help For Heroes is a charity launched in October 2007, by a group of friends and service relations who wished to do something to help the wounded coming back from Afghanistan and Iraq. The men and women of the armed forces would say that they are not heroes, they would tell you that they're just people doing their job. Help For Heroes believes that anyone who volunteers to serve in a time of war, knowing that they may risk all, is a hero. I agree! These are extraordinary people doing extraordinary things and some of them are living with the consequences for the rest of their lives.

The Fire Fighters Charity

Every 30 seconds in the uk, fire fighters are called to an incident , putting their lives on the line, and often sustaining physical injuries whilst carrying out their duties. The fire fighters charity is there for firefighters in times of need and assists over 11,000 individuals every year , providing pioneering treatment and support services.

Hunstantons Loser!!

Me and My boyfriend took an afternoon trip up to Hunstanton one Sunday, the weather was not great, it was rainy and windy.

For those who have not visited Hunstanton, its a seaside town near Kings Lynn, It has a few select shops, a fair ground and a few chippy's and some arcades and like many seaside towns, lots of seagulls.

Me and My boyfriend like going to Hunstanton, especially going to the Arcades, Richard always attempts and win my a cuddly toy from the Crane Machines, they have some me-to-you bear ones (I love tatty teddies) so he was trying to get me one of them as I love them, I think overall he spent about £20.00 ( a pound gets you 5 go's) and no luck at all, and then we realised that he was trying to get me a me-to-you bear that say 'special little Boy' after watching his many failed attempts I thought that I would try and after 2 pounds won myself the something.

So this is me with my great prize....................

However my boyfriend did not go away empty handed he did win himself this very special little red train for a very special little boy. hehe.

However I got to mock him with my amazing Bolt cuddly bear that I won after 6 attempts, Haha little red train in your face!!! hehe.

The Adrian Flux French Car Show 2009

June 14th saw the return of the Adrian Flux French Car Show at Rockingham Raceway and for once the weather was on our side!

A lot of my work is done behind the scenes so I decided not to don the lycra again this year, but the rest of the Fluxbabes were out in force, including our new additions Emma, Kim, Megan, Kayleigh and Janine, who did a great job considering it was their first ever show!

Laura & I had the best ever experience with Opposite Lock drifting team! These guys were crazy - and despite being blinded by the smoke and covered in bits of burnt rubber it had to be the best part of my day!

The babes spent a lot of time visiting the clubs and handing out some freebies...and got stuck in with the Adrian Flux F1 Competition...All in all I think everyone had a great time...I'm sure the girls will be blogging about their FCS 09 experience soon so keep your eyes peeled...

Finally, I'd just like to thank all those that were involved with the show over the weekend - everyone worked really hard to make the show a success! a big thank you to Gary & Shane for lending us their cars for the Flux Lounge - cheers guys!! and also to all those who attended for making it such a great day!

Superpride Sunday- Birmingham

Bank Holiday Sunday we decided it would be nice to do something different, so we planned a road trip to Birmingham to join the Gay Pride Celebrations. We started off at Glas, which held one of the BIGGEST Gay Clubbing events EVER!! 'Superpride!!' check out the trailer below....

The tickets on the door were £30, which i thought was quite steep at the time, but later realised they were worth every single penny!

These are my gorgeous friends 'Lady Krystle' and Rachael who partied with me Superpride Stylee!

The atmosphere was unreal, so many gorgeous friendly, happy people all together under the same roof having such a good time. As i looked around i realised i was surrounded by a sea of smiley faces.....it was brilliant!

Federation really rocked the place, we spent most of the day dancing on the stage to Feds tunes. they had everything from men juggling fire, dancers, to people dressed as orks...i think thats what they were ha ha!

At Glas anything goes, thats what i love about these events, you can pretty much wear whatever you like and get away with it, people really make an effort to look different! It makes the place so much more colourful.

Becks Hen do- Cambridge

Last weekend we all dressed up and headed to Cambridge for my friend Rebekahs hen do. luckily the weather was beautiful so we found a table by the riverside and enjoyed a drink or two in the sunshine!

A near by table on a stag do were in need of some medical attention, one of the lads was having an asthma attack and had forgotten his Inhaler. My friend came to the rescue and luckily had her Inhaler with her so she offered her services. Therefore, to thanks us the boys bought us a round of drinks and joined our party. luckily for me one of the handsome young men was single and asked if i would like to go punting with him on the river! He bought a bottle of champagne and strawberry's and cream for the journey.....how could i refuse??!!

This the guy who needed the inhaler, he bet me a drink that he had my name tattooed on his Bum....and sure enough he did!!

Ministry Of Sound - London

What better way to start the bank holiday than a trip to the Big Shhhhmoke!! Luckily for me my cousin is a Dj and managed to bag us VIP guestlist for Ministry Of Sound in London! The event was for the Launch of Judgement Sundays in Ibiza, and playing in The Gallery were the likes of Judge Jules, Richard Durrand, Vicky Devine and my favourite, Marco V.

MOS was definately the classiest and cleanest club i've visited in London, the VIP section was something else. Below is my cousins Girlfriend Helen who's 20 something Birthday we were celebrating! In the middle is my Cousin Mark (aka DJ Marcos) and to the right, one of my bestest buddies Hayley.

The atmosphere was truly amazing, the main room looked quite big and plain initially but as soon as the party people piled in, the lighting effects and awesome music system kicked in, we were off!!! Check out the videos below...............

....And for my favourite part of the night..... Marco V.....i battled my way to the front of the Dancefloor and boogied till my feet couldn't boogy anymore! Check out the video...........

BMF Bike Show- Peterborough

Last weekend myself and fellow Bikesure Babe Jemma took a road trip to Peterborough for the annual BMF bike show. Accompanied by our quotes boys Grant and Jon, some big bikesure brolly's and Adrian Flux Hoodies we were ready to face the cold and rain!

We were unable to take our vehicle onto the site so we managed to persuade a lovely man to chauffeur us and our boxes of calendars to our Stand! It's amazing what we can achieve whilst wearing lycra!

The sun decided to show its face briefly so we took the opportunity to ditch the hoodies . No show is complete without a few pics with the handsome boys in Blue, who obviously stopped to give us some fire safety advice! This is the lovely Jake from Cambridge Fire Brigade...

And of course we couldn't let the Driver miss out!........

It was certainly an afternoon for Heroes! From the Cambridge Fire fighters to the Guy below who has just been awarded the George Medal of bravery for Dismantling landmines in Afghan. We were truly honoured to meet him.

We certainly learned alot about the emergency services, whilst spreading the Bikesure lurrrrve !!!

We were also lucky enough to meet the world famous Purple Helmets Stunt Team and were asked to be part of their show on our second day.The act was a Jousting competition, however the jousters were riding bikes instead of horses and we were the Damsels in distress they were fighting for! We were driven into the Arena on the back of a quad and tied a ribbon onto each opponents jousting stick. We then watched them battle one another to the floor and upon greeting them after the competition i somehow ended up rolling around on the floor in the mud with a Purple helmet on top of me!! look out for the video on my next blog!

Totally oblivious to what was going on behind us we posed for a photo. Little did i know there was a bare backside almost touching my head!!

Ross doing his bit for Bikesure....even though he had just been kicked in the face during a stunt and alomst broken his nose...bless! We provided some First Aid, Ibuprofen and some Bikesure bags to dish out!

This is Claire getting into the Westfield Kit car, she had to wear goggles and put her hair back! You could her the racetrack from a mile off and as soon as we got close you could smell burning rubber! So when we got there and saw other people being thrown round slolam I was pooping myself on behalf of Claire- Who was fearless!

Stoneleigh Kit Car Show 3rd & 4th May

Firstly me and Claire have to say how wowed we were with all the sporty kit cars, we were practically staring opened mouthed at them I particularly like the Ultima ones - pretty! There were a lot of cars that looked like they were out of 'Back to the Future'! and a bit too much for mine and Claire's pockets though! Sigh...

We had a good look around the 2 day show and got out to see all the owners clubs that were camping! I guess me and Claire could have camped.... nah! who are we kidding! How cute is this little pic? they had made a little seat for the teddy and he has his own goggles ready for the windy ride home! :)

This car was opposite our stand that weekend and we fell in love with it, so cute. Me and Claire kept picturing ourselves driving with the top down round the coast with our hair scarves on!

I have taken a pic of our stand because me, Claire, Janine and James were blooming proud of ourselves for putting this up! It nearly had a few of our fingers but we got there in the end. Oh and I nearly blinded a them all trying to put the flag up...

'Wicked' The London Musical

I had never been to see a London show until yesterday!! Now I know what I have been missing out on. I had seen 'Wicked' being advertised everywhere and my other half actually really wanted to see it as well.

The show started at 2.30pm and finished around 5.30pm with a 20min interval. We got the train from Kings Lynn straight through to London Kings Cross. We should have then got the underground to Victoria Station however over the bank holiday the Victoria Line wasn't running, which caused mayhem. But my BF's navigational skills got us there via the District Line to South Kensington and then to Victoria! We arrived a couple of hours before the show started and went for a bite to eat.

We then decided to head back to theatre and waited outside for the doors to open. The cast started to arrive and we found ourselves amongst keen fans who looked as though they had seen it 100 times already. They wore 'Wicked' t-shirts and were armed with at least 3 pens (incase one ran out) and note pads ready for the autographs.

The show was great..Its another side to the story, The Wizard of OZ. It explains how the Wicked Witch of the West became wicked and why and how the Tin Man became made of tin and the Lion cowardly and the Scarecrow etc etc..... It really is magical. There is love, lots of laughter and parts that really scared me!! The opening scene is a dragon with red eyes and smoke bellowing out of his nostrils.......!

The vocals are amazing. The lead singer who plays the Witch really can sing and makes your hairs stand on end. But staying that, all the cast were great. I especially liked the Prince, very dashing and his trousers were VERY tight throughout the performance. So no complaints there!!!

But seriously I would recommend this show to anyone.

On the train home I saw my little sister, Helen. She had been to London to see Dirty Dancing and she thought the show was great fun, so I think another trip to the West End is definitely on the cards for me.

Weekend in Birmingham

Unfortunately as you may know, Fluxbabes Kelly and Gemma have now left the company and are therefore now retired, sob sob!! Kelly is now living in Birmingham so we thought it would be great to all meet up and have a night out in her neck of the woods!! Rozi our manager braved the experience too.

We left Norfolk at around 11am , I was driving so it was essential we had Sat Nav. We made it there in approx 3 hours (my car is not the fastest in the world).

As soon as we arrived Kelly cracked open a bottle of bubbly and the opportunity then arose for us to take part in our favourite past time....talking! We chatted and gossiped all afternoon and before we realised we were wasted. Yay.

We then took ourselves across to the local pizzeria called Davinci's, which had great food, atmosphere and was very trendy. We then fuelled ourselves with Pizza and more alcohol and then strolled across to a Bar call Morstons. After more Wine and Pear Cider (Gemma) we caught a cab into Solihull to a club called Aparay, where Kelly's fella had reserved us our own booth which was great as we had somewhere to sit after we had done too much dancing. After consuming most of the clubs supply of pink champagne and cocktails it was time to get a taxi home via the kebab shop!!

Once back to Kelly's at around 3.30am - we pasted out only to wake up very early to a cooked breakfast courtesy to a very talented chef!! However didn't rate the eggs very much (suspicious black bits - think this was part of the saucepan) however the rest was delicious.

With our breakfast we had the offer of bucks fizz but declined this very abruptly!

After a few hours it was time to head home and Rozi very kindly offered to drive - we stopped off at the services half way for a Magnum Ice cream which was certainly the highlight of our journey home.

We will all meeting up again very soon in birrrrrmingham for another girly weekend - cant wait!

Fake Traitors

As some of you may recall from previous posts, my brother is in a band called KUDA. They’ve been a bit quiet on the gig front the last month or two as they’ve been busy working on their new video for ‘Fake Traitors’. But fear not! They have more gigs planned for the next few months over towards Peterborough.

The video has been kept under tight security and so our first viewing was at the launch party held in Dr Thirsty’s in town at the weekend.

Before the showing of the video they performed an acoustic set, doing some covers including Kings of Leon, Queens of the Stone Age and Keane, which went down well and had everyone singing along.

Then after much anticipation, the video was aired. It’s really good, and everyone was impressed. I will admit I had an emotional moment (as I do at pretty much all their gigs I go to) and felt rather proud of my little brother (who probably won’t be happy at that comment, even though he is younger, but rather a lot bigger than me!). Well I felt rather proud of all of them actually!

FORMULA JEDI

I thought I'd share a little bit of info on just one of the many projects we help with Sponsorship...

Formula Jedi:

A little bit of background: "Originally created in 1996 as 'Formula 600'. The name was taken from the Honda 600cc motorcycle engine that was fitted to the rear of the Jedi racing car, constructed by John Corbyn at his Northamptonshire workshops. The idea for a race championship was developed because the Jedi chassis was being used very successfully on sprint and hillclimb circuits throughout the UK.

Formula 600 was therefore created and backed by the British Racing and Sports Car Club (BRSCC) to produce identical performance single seater racing cars, that would provide a cost effective way to go motor racing. It would also teach the young and old about using slicks and wings. In 2000, Honda UK gave their support to the formula and the series became 'Formula Honda'."

All the cars are built to the same spec to keep it even, the regulations aim to keep the performance close between cars to make the races extra exciting. Many of the drivers have gone on to bigger and better things - so watch this space.

On his first meeting at Silverstone, got off to a slow start - as he missed the first race due to electrical problems, however our sponsorship enabled him to purchase new tyres that transformed the car helping Rob to finish 12th and come first in his class!

The next outing is in May, at Croft - so fingers crossed and Best of Luck Rob!

Birthday Girl

Last week it was my birthday (nicely timed with the Easter break) so I decided to make the celebrations last as long as possible - a week in fact!

They started on the 4th with a night out in Islington going round a few bars on Upper Street. We had a few drinks mixed with some banter and taking in the interesting characters that were about and believe me there were a few! At the end of the night we all decided we were hungry and with some time to kill before the train home we headed for a pizza place. It was the most random thing –we ordered our pizzas and paid for them, only for the chap behind the counter to then call the branch further down the road to make and deliver the pizza to us!

Next in the celebration plans was a family get together around mine for some drinks (and pressies of course!) on my actual birthday, followed by a meal and some drinks a couple of nights later, where we sat discussing the finer points of boats and ships. Random? Oh yes.

From Friday onwards the remainder of the weekend was spent in St Albans and London and started with a Dominos Pizza – we don’t have one in the Kings Lynn area, and as Dominos is the best, I couldn’t resist! The rest of the weekend was spent in a blur of shopping, red wine, markets, restaurants, red wine, shopping and cocktail bars. Oh and not to mention playing the slightly addictive game that is Professor Layton and the Curious Village!

The celebrations will be finished later in the month with a night out in town with the girls doing our very best to avoid certain pubs!

There normally would be a mass of photos, however, this year I was far too lazy and just couldn’t be bothered to take my camera out with me, so I do apologise.

TAZ Motorcycle Event!

On Saturday 21st March, a beautiful sunny day- woo hoo! Me (Keely) and Sammi headed to TAZ's Motorcycles in Peterborough for their Alpinestar (bike clothing) opening. Where they were joined by none other than Double World Super Bike Champion TROY CORSER!! -see above.

We got there in plently of time to arrange our freebies even after thinking we had gotten lost- only to find out we were literally a 100 yards away! Doh.

When we finally got a chance to speak to Troy (there was HUGE queue), we both managed to sneak a picture with him and a Autograph- in between handing out some free Bikesure Calenders and Mugs...

Oh and also some more posing on the bikes!

We both really enjoyed the day as we don't often do the Bikesure events so we made the most of running about and getting pictures on the bikes as well as checking out all their clothing and talking to the bikers.

We would both definately do it again, I think Sammi would make a great Bike Babe and looked fab in the leathers!

Gatecrasher-In bed with Dave Spoon

Last weekend my other half was asked to Dj at gatecrasher Birmingham with the likes of Dj Spoon. It was for a night call 'In bed with Dave Spoon'.....

So we hired a bus, filled it with party people and set off for Brummy!

All was going well until the Sat nav ran out of battery just as we were arriving in Birmingham! We spent the next hour and a half driving round in circles trying to find our way to the club. After asking several drunken passers by for directions and being sent on a wild goose chase we eventually made it there....phew!

Luckily we were able to jump right to the front of the queue, where we realised the club operates a strict dress code. We were asked to line up while they checked our attire and if you weren't wearing the correct dress code they gave out yellow and red cards....

The card reads...'it's not what you wear, it's how you wear it. You are the kind of person we want in this club. Please try harder next time!!!!!' Hillarious!!!

Gatecrasher is such a classy club and the atmosphere was truly amazing. Below are the gorgeous dancers, who were sprayed gold and wore angel wings.

Dave Spoon played from 1am till 3am.So we boogied on the dancefloor and mingled backstage with our swanky VIP wristbands LOL!!

(Dave Spoon is the guy wearing the chequered shirt) but more importantly below is Dj Craig Chambers and Harry Pearce who rocked the place from 3am till 5!!

I have to admit they definately gave Spoon a run for his money and the crowd absoloutly loved them. It was definately the best night out i've had in a long time!

We left the club at around 6am just in time to catch the sunrise on the journey home.....lurrrrrvly!!

Watch this space for their next appearance at Gatecrasher in May when the likes of FAITHLESS will also be gracxing the decks!!! AWESOME!!

Volksworld 2009

Spring is nearly upon us and the show season is starting to get busy! (Which means lots of organising on my behalf!)

Snow Patrol

I am a big fan of Snow Patrol, so when I saw tickets to see them go on sale last November, I couldn’t resist!

My mum and brothers girlfriend are also big fans of them, so I got us tickets as a surprise for my mums birthday. It was a hard secret to keep from November to February!

I’d seen them in November 2006 and they were brilliant then, and I can safely say that the Snow Patrol live shows get better and better!

The entire show was awesome from the lights, to the atmosphere – not to mention of course the music!

They did a mix of old and new tracks covering Final Straw, Eyes Open and A Hundred Million Suns, which made me a happy lady as I love all 3 albums and have them all. After hearing the songs performed live it just makes me love them more.

The highlight of the evening for me was seeing Gary Lightbody do an acoustic version of Run. It was so beautiful and it haunting it could make you weep. (Boo hiss to all the fans of the Leona Lewis version. You should be ashamed of yourselves! It just doesn’t come close to the original and lacks all of the feeling).

The entire show was amazing from start to finish, the video they played during The Lightening Strike was brilliant and slightly hypnotic and yes – I will be going to their next tour. I’m hooked!

Snow Patrol + live show = worth every penny and the 2 ½ hour drive!

Smartie Party

Last weekend my other half Craig Chambers was Dj-ing at Scala in London for 'Smartie Party' with the likes of Steve Smart- (Kiss Fm) and Danny Rampling. It was a Turnmills Reuinion night, if any of you clubbers out there remember....Turmills was one of the best clubs in London and argueably the UK! I've had many a memorable night of crazy dancing in that place! It was the kind of club you could get lost in....with so many different rooms, different Dj's and atmospheres it had something for everyone. I saw Jon Carter there a few years back and remember being so squashed and sweaty, but didnt have a care in the world as the atmosphere was electric!

In my eyes i don't think any club will quite compare to Turnmills but Scala was still a brilliant night, and a great atmosphere. It was previously a theatre so the dancfloor is overlooked by balcony's so you always have a good view of the Dj wherever you're dancing.The crowd were absoloutly loving it! I spent the night boogying V.I.P Stylee with the lovely Kaz Carter and had so much fun, definately a night to remember =)
